At least 3 people have been killed and more than 47 injured after a strong and shallow earthquake registered by Ecuador's Geophysical Institute (IGEPN) as M5.7 hit Ecuador on December 19, 2016. The quake occurred at 07:11 UTC at a shallow depth of 5.2 km (3.2 miles). USGS registered it as M5.4 at a depth of 10 km (6.2 miles). EMSC is reporting M5.5 at the same depth.
According to the USGS, the epicenter was located 18.5 km (11.5 miles) SSW of Esmeraldas (population 165 2016), 38.4 km (23.9 miles) NE of Muisne (population 13 393), 61.6 km (38.3 miles) NNW of Rosa Zarate (population 42 121), and 96.9 km (60.2 miles) WSW of Valdez (population 11 441), Ecuador.
IGEPN recorded the quake off the coast of Atacames in Esmeraldas province, about 175 km (108.7 miles) NW of Quito, the capital. It was followed by 15 lesser-magnitude aftershocks (M3.4 - 4.5).
A tsunami alert was not issued but the institute warned that aftershocks could be expected.
December 18, 2016: A strange phoenomenon is being detected by earth ground sensors around the planet eminating from the lithosphere. A perpetual energy source that is not consistent with earthquake energy...something unknown!
A large wave of energy impacting the entire planet has UNINTENTIONALLY been detected by the MIMIC TPW microwave background imagery. Currently ONGOING as of 12/19/2016 at 1:20am US central time)
This is not a glitch, computer error, or fake -- unless someone at the University decided to fake data for some reason.
This system usually only shows precipitation / water vapor , yet in some rare instances large energy returns can be seen when solar, spaceweather, and other energy events impact the planet.
We have seen examples of X class flares, and large Earth facing Coronal Mass Ejections cause large disruptions of this very same feed -- however this "wave" of energy produces a return that crosses the same bandwidths detected (and used by) the MIMIC microwave background system.
The energy spans the planet on both (all) sides over several hours time. This wave of energy started to form on 12/18 at about 15:00UTC, and is currently ongoing.
A check of the X-ray flux monitors from GOES shows low activity, minor solar winds, no major solar storms, Total Electron Content in the ionosphere shows "minimal".... thus the source / cause of this event is still "unknown".
If this "event" really occurred (if it's "real") then we're looking at a huge amount of energy impacting the planet causing a planet wide microwave return going off the scales.
Microwaves convert to DC energy in a natural "rectenna" process when the waves become trapped in the Earth's magnetosphere-- the radio waves convert to DC power, and are taken to ground. Ground ultimately being the core of the Earth.
If the event is really occurring, then the potential amount of energy going to the core of the planet would be tremendous -- this of course could increase volcanic activity, and cause large earthquakes.
I don't know what to make of this -- this is the first time I've ever seen something this large over such a vast area show up on MIMIC like this. Keep watch -- the next week may tell the tale on what happens (if anything) from this strange event.

SOTT 'Earth Changes' video summary for November 2016: extreme weather events, environmental indicators of 'planetary upheaval' (seismic, volcanic, etc) and Near-Earth Objects in the form of meteor fireballs.
With liberal elites going into meltdown last month over 'Trumpocalypse', the stewards of empire are rapidly losing whatever grip they once had on reality. At the same time, with extreme weather event after extreme weather event impacting every region on Earth, it's as if this descent into madness is being marked every step of the way by Mother Nature. Disastrous climatic events in November 2016 included: Snow, hail and flooding in the deserts of Saudi Arabia (again) New Zealand's second strongest tremor in the modern era Johannesburg's worst flash-flood in living memory Another powerful quake (and another tsunami) off Fukushima, Japan Outbreak of 'thunder asthma' in Melbourne, Australia, which killed 8 people and sent another 8,500 to hospital The latest Atlantic Hurricane in the modern era (and the most southerly, and the first to ever make landfall in Costa Rica) Unprecedented 'superfires' torching swathes of the US Southeast
Those are just some of the more 'unusual' events in our latest Earth Changes Summary video, which also includes the other more 'normal' stuff: monster sinkholes swallowing multiple cars, people and homes - deluges washing away more homes, cars and people - massive meteor fireballs panicking people into thinking aliens have invaded - destructive tornadoes touching down in the capitals of Rome and South Africa - record November snowfalls in parts of northern US, northern China, and northern Europe...
We are, of course, being facetious. There's nothing normal about any of this. We've entered a new global climate. Forecasting models are largely redundant at this point. The costs from all this destruction pile up ever higher with each passing month. Until now, elites have either ignored the climate/planetary upheaval, or blamed ordinary people for causing one or another symptom, then carried on milking taxpayers and spreading wars. No doubt, given recent patterns, they're soon going to start blaming it all on Putin.
These were (some of) 'the signs' in November 2016...
A BIG CORONAL HOLE TURNS TOWARD EARTH: For the third month in a row, a large hole in the sun's atmosphere is turning toward Earth. NASA's Solar Dynamics Observatory photographed the yawning structure on Dec. 16th. This is the same coronal hole that lashed Earth's magnetosphere with solar wind on Oct. 25-28 and again on Nov. 23-26. It is spinning around with the sun, strobing Earth lighthouse-style every ~27 days. The last two times we experienced its solar wind, intermittant G1-class geomagnetic storms and bright auroras were observed in the Arctic. A repeat performance is likely when the solar wind returns on Dec. 20-22.
